I’m ready for SAMH Stomp

My name is Emily. I'm a student studying mental health nursing, aged 18, from Aberdeenshire and I am a very passionate fundraiser for SAMH.
I am absolutely delighted to be taking part in the SAMH Extreme Stomp, especially after taking part in SAMH's previous events such as the Superhero Skydive and the abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge, raising nearly over £3,000 in aid of Scotland's mental health.
I decided to get involved in the SAMH Stomp because it is a great way to earn vital funds to change the lives of people in Scotland for the better who are possibly struggling with their mental health.
The money raised goes a very long way and honestly makes such a difference.
There is no doubt that the Stomp will be a big challenge but I love challenges and recommend anyone at all who is even considering taking part in the Stomp to just do it!
It's the only event of its kind and to be part of it is very, very special.
The atmosphere at BT Murrayfield Stadium will be electric and it will be amazing to see such an iconic stadium filled with so many like-minded people, all with the same goal - to raise as much money as we can for such a worthy cause.
In the past, I have gone through some difficult times and needed help and this is what inspired me to become a mental health nurse and to raise as much money as I can for SAMH.
I want to turn a relatively bad experience into a positive one and to help other people to the best of my ability.
Mental ill health will affect at least one in for four of us in our lifetime, and although this can sometimes be unavoidable, the knowledge that we have somewhere to go to get help is absolutely essential and in many cases, life-saving.
With severe shortages of funding and many cutbacks to our mental health services, we have to take action and what better way to do it than taking part in a fun fundraising activity and while doing so, being active - which is also good for our own mental health!
The countdown to the SAMH Stomp is well and truly on and I couldn't be more excited!
Best wishes to everyone with their fundraising and I hope to see you at BT Murrayfield stadium on 7th October - it promises to be a remarkable event!
