Working to improve children and young people’s mental health

Putting children and young people at the heart of our work

The 2022 Scottish Census data showed that 15.4% of young people aged 16-24 declared a mental health condition, compared to 2.5% in 2011.

Since 2017 we’ve been increasing our focus on children and young people’s mental health. We want to do even more to involve children and young people across our work and put young people at the heart of our campaigning, service development and decision-making.

No-one knows the issues that young people face, or what they need to support them better than young people themselves. We want our work to reach and support as many young people as possible.

Over the coming months, we’ll be opening lots of exciting opportunities to get involved and help shape our campaigning and advocacy work, and to improve mental health services for children and young people across Scotland.
